Las Vegas shopping centre on 'LOCKDOWN' amid reports of 'shooter'

Reports suggest a person opened fire near a Target store on Blue Diamond Road, Las Vegas.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department confirmed they were investigating and officer-involved shooting in the area in a statement on Twitter.

The Blue Diamond Cross Shopping Centre contains a number of stores including Ross Dress for Less, Target and Kohl’s.

Photos and video posted on social media show a heavy emergency service presence in the area, including police and paramedic services.

One father told local paper, the Las Vegas Review Journal he was inside the Ross Dress for Less store when he saw a man arguing with a woman.

He then claimed the man made threats and left the store, before returning with a weapon which he fired.

The witness could not confirm whether anyone was struck by the gunfire.

People have been warned to stay away from the area.

A number of surrounding roads are currently closed.

One witness tweeted they had been evacuated from the centre.

Target employees have been photographed comforting one another outside the store.

The shopping complex is in the south of Las Vegas, around six miles from the world famous Strip.
